Additional 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Don Williams, Vol. 1 Information

The seductive music of Don Williams has an insulated quality about it that makes it hard to resist. It's as if the world is swirling out of control around the Gentle Giant, yet he barely raises an eyebrow, blithely singing his soft, calming tunes. Give a Hot Country Star these songs, and their simple truths about love, faith, and country life would seem like platitudes. However, in the caress of Williams's warmhearted baritone, they come off as sincere, timeless nuggets of wisdom. With the barest of accompaniment, Williams took 10 of these 12 songs to the top of the country charts (while the remaining pair reached No. 2) in the '70s and '80s. Though he penned hits for many others, his own smashes usually came courtesy of writers such as Bob McDill and Wayland Holyfield, though Williams, a Texas native, clearly relates to their unpretentious, bucolic sentiments. Throughout, Williams gives good ol' boys back their good name and women back their dignity, and through the strength of his quiet determination, he makes such conventional concepts sound unfailingly hip. --Marc Greilsamer

What Customers Say About 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Don Williams, Vol. 1:

Received item quickly and in condition as stated. A friend heard my CD and loved it so I bought one for him.

However, Williams was given a second volume in the series, and if you enjoyed this, you may want to buy that set as well.Highly recommended for any country music fan. 'I Believe In You,' 'Tulsa Time,' and ''Til The Rivers Run Dry' all appear on this set.-THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXCELLENT.-You get underrated classics here.

He has a great country music voice. Don can make any song his own.

I have always thought Don Williams deserved a lot more credit than what he got. How does this collection measure up.Positives-Every Williams hit on the MCA label is here.

He's that good. And in 2000, he was awarded a collection in UMG's series '20th Century Masters.'This is the best of Williams' MCA years.

'She Never Knew Me,' 'Say It Again' and 'Good Ole Boys Like Me' all appear on this set.NegativesNone.Overall, this is an excellent Williams set and it's perfect for the beginner. ENJOY.

This album is great but is an abbreviated collection of his best. The Definitive Collection is his all time greatest. This one is good, but I like the collection with MORE of his songs even better.

l love the soothing, rich sound that Don Williams has. His voice is so mellow and I just find myself relaxing and forgetting the stress of the day frome the sound of his voice. I really think this is one great cd.

This is a great CD and I recommend it to any Don Williams Fan. I received this item within 7 days of my order.
